Vancouver’s annual BADASS Film Festival is upon us again this winter! This all-day film festival features local, Canadian, and International shorts (in competition) and a triple-feature of feature films, including BRIVIDO GIALLO / CREEPY SIX FILMS‘ newest surrealist-erotic-giallo offering, Valley of the Rats – and closing out with the feature to end all badass features, Frankenstein Created Bikers!
Both Valley of the Rats and Frankenstein Created Bikers feature local performance artist and actor Tristan Risk (aka Little Miss Risk) in featured/leading roles. BADASS 3 promises its namesake this year, with booze, bikes, an onslaught of kick-ass films and what’s apt to be the rowdiest film festival this side of Canada all year. Cast from Frankenstein Created Bikers will be in attendance and Vince D’Amato, director of Valley of the Rats, will be on-hand for a Q&A session following this EXCLUSIVE never-before-seen cut of the film – At the RIO Theatre Feb. 26th! GLASS is the new film from Brivido Giallo – produced by the same crew as Reversed, this insane, paranoid murder-mystery was shot in Canada this time and takes place in Vancouver – the City of Glass.
Starring Tirra Dent and Casey Manderson (who also starred together in the short film Dirty Bill of Health), Glass was shot in Vancouver at the end of 2013 with Patrick Meehan retuning to photograph, Mickey E.Vil back in the composer’s seat, and Vince D’Amato writing-directing once again. The film wrapped production in November 2013 and is currently still in post-production.
We’re expecting a Spring 2015 theatrical release. Stay tuned!
Well, Reversed was officially finished following a final picture and sound edit (tweaking, really), and unofficially released theatrically in Canada back in April to a somewhat stunned but appreciative audience, resulting in an impromptu post-screening Q&A with the film director. Released also in Italy, which brought about a pleasant write-up from an Italian genre magazine Splatter Container
Our new feature film GLASS wrapped production in Vancouver, Canada in November 2013, and will begin post-production in the UK in 2014.
We will also be pushing for wider release of our films theatrically and digitally in the new year. Thank you to everyone who has shown us support this past year! We look forward to sharing more wonderful, crazy films with you!
The title of this new neo-giallo project is “GLASS”, and this is a new psycho-thriller about sex, death, and madness (as per the usual giallo themes). Constructed like a “chamber” thriller, most of the action takes places between two neighbouring apartments after a young couple, Mike and Zarana, decide to lock themselves inside for an extended period of time. Yes, insanity and murder ensues…
We will keep you posted as to the progress of this new project. Patrick Meehan, the cinematographer of “Reversed”, is set to shoot again, and Vince D’Amato writing/directing.
Mickey Evil, our Italian producer and Reversed’s music composer, has just finished his interview that will be part of a small documentary included on the hard-copy release of “Reversed” next year. We’re trying to time the release to coincide with the release of the brand new Mugshots EP, which was recorded in the US this year by Mickey and music producer Dick Wagner. Some of the music from The Mugshots’ EP is also featured in the film.
As always, we’ll keep you posted with further shenanigans.
-The Reversed team.
We wrapped principal photography on Reversed on November 4th, 2011, in Milano, Italy. I remember clearly sitting inside a bar on the edge of the canal, it was pouring rain outside, with most of the cast and crew on our last day. We’d been shooting at the Duomo that afternoon, one of the actresses, Zoe, lost her iPhone, then found it again, the Italian police let us film inside the famous Duomo, and someone trying to sell popcorn kernels for five Euro began pestering us outside. Toursists were filming us filming, others asked us to photograph them – and then, finally, it started to rain. It was a crazy day, and two days in Milan seemed like a week, but a really good week. It still, to this day, seems bizarre to me that we’d only been there for two days.
One year later, which encompassed all of the video editing, sound design and editing, film-colour template, additional music and Italian lines recorded in Italy, another trip back to Milan for 2nd Unit shots, and one additional shot of a telephone of all things, filmed in Vancouver with my wife’s new camera, Reversed has officially wrapped post-production. As I did some final tinkering the night of November 4th (2012) that went past midnight, I suppose it was a year and a day after we’d wrapped that Reversed was completed, but here it is, done.
Onto the next phase, now… And stay tuned for the official trailer, up late 2012 or early 2013.
…The music is now complete (big thanks to Mickey Evil and The Mugshots!) and “Reversed”, the first feature film from Brivido Giallo and Creepy Six International, has gone through its final pre-screening cut. From this point, Peter Speers, the talented sound designer from Creepy Six Films in Vancouver, Canada, will continue with sound editing and design this September.
In the meantime, “Reversed” editor and director will now be editing two short films and a musical over the next three months. One of the short films was written and produced by the star of “Reversed”, Victoria Hopkins, and was shot by our DOP Patrick Meehan. More on that one in the near future…
Well, we officially started it yesterday, actually; post-production has commenced on Reversed in Vancouver, British Columbia. As we truck along we’ll also be posting up more behind-the-scenes galleries right here so stay tuned for that. We’re gearing to have the first cut done by May 2012, complete with the amazing score from Italy’s Mickey Evil!
